Veggies

Over the past couple of weeks we've been feeding Jamison veggies. He seems to really like carrots, squash, peas, and sweet potatoes. I've tried for days to try and get him to eat his green beans, but he spits out more than he swallows, leaving me with a huge mess to clean up! So I decided to try and mix the beans with his sweet potatoes before I finally gave up on them. The idea worked, YAY!!

Missionary Work

Anyone that has been out to visit us and met our neighbors know that they are incredible people! Mike and I often talk about what great members they would be in the church. Mom and Dad D sent us the 21-day promise given to them by the missionaries. Basically it is a promise by a general authority that if you make a list of non-member friends and pray for them for 21 days then at least one of those people will be prepared to hear the missionary lessons. We shared this promise with the missionaries from our ward and promised them that we would take the challenge. Of course our neighbors are on the top of our list.

We had a ward BBQ on Friday night that I invited them to. It was a lot of fun and they fit in perfectly. They didn't seem at all uncomfortable, so that was great! Then last night was enrichment and I decided to invite them to that as well. They accepted the invitation and even made a dish for the potluck dinner. Enrichment was focused on being prepared in case of a natural disaster. They participated in everything that went on and then thanked me numerous times for inviting them.

This was such a great experience for me because I am not the vocal type of missionary that Mike is. I've found that it is much easier for me to teach by example. So the work in northern California continues and hopefully we will be able to make a difference! If anyone would like a copy of this 21-day promise please let me know and I will send it to you, it is amazing!

Where did September go?

It seems crazy to me that it is already October! What happened to September? Living in California certainly doesn't make it feel like October. I have to be honest, I get so homesick for Utah this time of year. I really miss the changing seasons, especially fall which is my favorite. I am excited that I don't have to drive in the dreadful snow, but just to see the snow covering the mountains would be wonderful! Actually, seeing mountains period would be wonderful. Don't get me wrong, I love northern California and I absolutely LOVE our ward family here, but a girl is entitled to be homesick every now and again!

We fed Jamison rice cereal for the first time a few weeks ago. I wasn't sure if he really liked it or if he just liked biting on the spoon. Since then he seems to enjoy it more, and he doesn't make quite the mess he used to.

I took Jamison with me to the Relief Society broadcast last weekend because Mike was working late again. He kept smiling and laughing at each woman sitting close to us and of course they were getting a kick out of it. I'm not sure if those sisters were able to listen to much of the broadcast, they were having too much fun cooing at my son!
